Mountain Climbing Twisters!!!!

Pretty interesting story here, which I shamelessly stole from our local news rag. Although it was not a full on touching the ground there's no place like home event this is pretty sweet!!

This funnel cloud was spotted from Leadville, Colorado and you can see 14er Mt. Massive in the background! Here is the NWS write up detailing the event. Now I am by no means a weather man but I am fairly certain that there is not really much of a chance for a tornado to actually form on a 14er however, you should know that it has happened. In fact in 2004 a hiker in Sequoia National park photographed the Rockwell Pass Tornado at 12,000'! Also check out the F4 tornado that blasted the Tetons on 21 July 1987 this bad boy reached 10,070' and actually crossed the Continental Divide!!! Tornadoes are rated on the Fujita scale and the top rated tornado is an F5 so the one in Wyoming was about as bad as they come! Here is a link to some common and interesting Tornado facts.
