OB-1
After my recent to the Tetons I was a bit curious about how our northern cousins were doing with their beer brewing so to satisfy my curiosity and overwhelming thirst I stopped at a few and sampled the suds. And as I expected SRB, Snake River Brewing Company did not disappoint! I had the sampler...no not the little 1.5oz teases but the full course 16oz pours of each of their beers. Sure the purists would say "boo...you are ruining your ability to truly taste the beer", we'll I never claimed to be "pure" so screw it. Although most of the beers we pretty fantastic I have to say that the OB-1 really stuck with me. Not only because of the clever Star Wars reference but because this beer is a certified organic English Style Brown ale. Hence the name, which officially stands for "Organic Beer Number 1" however I do wonder if they named this beer due to the fact that Han Solo lives in Jackson?

This smooth ale is a far cry from my standard hoppy fix but the sweet malts and almost unnoticeable IBUs really make this a mellow, smooth, and potentially sessionable ale. I can definitely see this as a fall warmer on the slopes and rivers surrounding Jackson, Wyoming. Unfortunately we Coloradans cannot get it in the liquor stores...yet.

Hey Steve! Thanks for
Hey Steve!
Thanks for swinging in, swillin' a quantity of our award-winning brews in our pub and throwing down a review for the OB-1!
Yes, the OB-1 does have a bit of a double entendre as the Force is strong with our GM and Harrison does reside here in Jackson Hole...but officially the name does come from Organic Beer #1.
We're prepping for the GABF so if you're at the event, come and say hi at our booth while sampling some more of our great brews!
PS: We just so happen to be the most award-winning small brewery at the GABF since opening our doors in 1994 and twice have won the coveted "Brew Master & Small Brewery of the Year" there.
Cheers...and may the FROTH BE WITH YOU!!
