Hopyard
Rockyard Brewing Co. of Castle Rock, Co. makes for a pretty good pit stop after a weekend of adventure. One beer specifically there has become a favorite of mine, the Hopyard IPA. IPAs aren't usually my first choice, but this one really does it for me. As should be expected with an IPA the taste opens a bit on the hoppy side with a pine flavor that lingers to a citrus taste. It has a mild bite, but it really calms down as you continue through the drink. It pours to golden body with a small head, and has a very thin lacing. Not a very sticky drink and a tad light on the carbonation. I was mistaken about the ABV, I for some reason thought it was 5.3% but then was thrilled to find out it is actually 6.2% (thanks Jim). Overall I'm digging it, and it's got a sweet label too!
Hopyard has a crisp refreshing taste and goes down smooth. I would recommend grilled chicken breast for a good paring, something a bit on the spicy side. If you find yourself in Castle Rock, CO. anytime soon swing by Rockyard and grab a fresh pint from the tap. Not making that trip but want to try the beer, I've got good news for you. Rockyard Brewing Co. is now distributing and you should be able to find bottles of their delicious nectar at a liquor store near you. Hop to it!
